Annual update
Published on December 22, 2023 by Lionir
Hi Beeple!
We're doing this annual update because well, we have to according to OpenCollective. We didn't see this message until the day it was meant to go out so we apologize for any errors in it. We've given financial updates monthly so I'll try to go quickly. We'll answer the questions that OpenCollective sent us.
1. What did you accomplish during 2023? How did you use money?

1. What did you accomplish during 2023? How did you use money?
Beehaw was launched into the stratosphere with the Reddit exodus after months of relatively quiet activity. We struggled for a bit there but things have been relatively stable now. As for how we used the money, you can refer to our post from November, December should be out at the usual time though it may be late because of holidays.
2. What challenges did you face during 2023? What did your Collective learn? How did you change or grow?
Well, as mentioned in the earlier question, we learned a lot. We learned the hard way that rapid growth is really unsustainable. We've had to be less flexible with people outside of Beehaw because it was just too much for us. We created communication channels and built bridges with other instances to help resolve issues as well.
3. What are your plans for 2024? Anything exciting coming up?
For 2024, we're working to move away from Lemmy because we think it's just not the right thing for what we want.
Thank you all for your contributions to Beehaw, it's really appreciated.
We hope that you stick around with us and wish you happy holidays.
Beeple out.
