Asylum Seekers Fund // Fondo para Solicitantes de Asilo

Bushwick Ayuda Mutua is joining the efforts of the many community groups who have mobilized to support migrants and asylum seekers recently arriving to Bushwick shelters.
New York City is required by law to provide shelter to anyone seeking asylum, but these “shelters” are insufficient at meeting the daily needs of human beings. Often just a dense arrangement of cots in an unfinished commercial building, recent shelters have opened with no showers, and single toilets for hundreds of people.
Asylum seekers are requesting basic items such as bottled water, soap, deodorant, shampoo, towels, t-shirts, socks, and underwear.
Bushwick Ayuda Mutua has set up this fund to direct resources to these efforts, while not taking away from our on-going work providing food and social services to Bushwick families.
This is a rapid response effort and we will be deploying these funds to meet the needs of these New New Yorkers. If you would like to get more involved in these efforts, contact us here.

Bushwick Ayuda Mutua busca unirse a los esfuerzos de muchos grupos comunitarios que se han movilizado para apoyar a los migrantes y solicitantes de asilo que han sido trasladados a los albergues de Bushwick.
La ciudad está obligada por ley a proporcionar refugio a cualquier persona que solicite asilo, pero estos "refugios" son insuficientes para satisfacer las necesidades diarias de los seres humanos. A menudo, solo un arreglo denso de catres en un edificio comercial sin terminar, los refugios recientes de Bushwick se han abierto sin duchas y baños individuales para cientos de personas.
Estos solicitantes de asilo han pedido artículos básicos como agua embotellada, jabón, desodorante, champú, toallas, camisetas, calcetines y ropa interior.
Bushwick Ayuda Mutua ha establecido un fondo para dirigir los recursos a estos esfuerzos, sin restarle valor a nuestro trabajo regular proporcionando alimentos y servicios a las familias de Bushwick.
