Upcoming Mutual Aid Fair and Call for Donations
Published on January 21, 2025 by Korra
Hello everyone! Charlotte Food Not Bombs along with Reproductive Rights Coalition, Charlotte Mask Bloc, Charlotte Medic Collective, and other great organizations will be tabling at the Mutual Aid Fair this Saturday from 1pm-5pm at SEAC Village. There will be teach ins throughout the day on topics including safe masking, abortion access in the Carolinas, building safe communities, workplace organizing, and building DIY heater blocs out of pots for unhoused folks. Check out socials for more details!
It's January, and it's very, very cold. We'll have our next regular community distro this Sunday in First Ward Park at 5pm. There's an increased need for tents, blankets, and warm clothing. Please consider contributing to our tent fund to help us meet these needs! If you'd like to drop physical donations off, you can do that at First Ward Park this Sunday starting at 5pm.
Lastly, this past weekend the Charlotte Medic Collective held Charlotte's inaugural 20 hour street medic training. Many folks were trained in providing community health which is crucial for building community safety and resilience! Food Not Bombs was able to provide vegan and gluten free meals to our trainers and trainees this weekend thanks to your support! The CLT Medic Collective has big plans to do community health clinics, health checks at unhoused encampments, building harm reduction kits, and more, and this training equips us with the knowledge to do that. However, this work can't be done without financial support! Please consider giving a one time donation or, even better, signing up to give monthly. Even five dollars a month will help us provide important medical care for our community!
In solidarity,
Charlotte Food Not Bombs
