About NEUROMANCERS
NEUROMANCERS is a Black-person led and fully queer facilitated community organisation and radical magazine for and by neurodivergents. NEUROMANCERS is a space for solidarity and education about systems of oppression, focusing on the most marginalized people affected by those systems. However, we don't exclude others who are willing to put in the work to actively decolonise themselves and the world around them. We hold a range of ages, races, identities, and experiences but are united in our goals for liberation. We are not experts, but learn through lived experience, and as abolitionists are welcome to accountability. To us, to be neurodivergent is not only related to our neurology but also a commitment to diverging from and annihilating systems of normality by allowing our creative, resilient brains to dream up worlds of liberation. Neurodivergency is inherently political, and liberationist politics are inherently divergent.
About the Workshop
In this workshop we will use creative writing to allow us to re-see our experience of suicidality outside of a pathologized and criminalized lens. We will use language to write to see our suicidality in a deeper, more meaningful way. Creativity is how we disrupt oppressive systems, it’s how we heal, it’s how we liberate ourselves from medicalized models.

We will go through several prompts (there is no pressure at all to share your writing, it is for you). You will leave the workshop with your own piece. A piece which helps you to connect your deathsong to your life and the universe in a meaningful way. You will leave the workshop with a more meaningful understanding of your deathsong.
If you’re worried, “I don’t know how to write poetry” or “I’m not good at writing” don’t worry. You’re deathsong is already within you. If writing is not accessible or you prefer other creative methods, you can listen, dictate, paint or draw, respond to our deathsongs in a way that is most accessible and meaningful for you.
Your deathsong is ready to be sung, together we will listen to her, we will hear her lyrics, we will sing together.
