March 2023 Update
Published on March 26, 2023 by Marcel Klehr
Hello everyone,
it's been a while (TM) but I have a feeling most of you will not be disappointed about the lack of spam from me :D As I mentioned in my last message, I am an employee at Nextcloud now, for a few months already, and am quite happy with that decision. As you probably noticed, however, my attention to floccus and the bookmarks app has decreased over the course of that time. Nonetheless, I was able to spend some of my vacation time on my hobby projects.
Here are some of the highlights:
Import and export of floccus accounts as well as bookmarks themselves on Android and iOS
Seamless sharing of links from other apps to floccus on iOS
Fixing multiple exotic syncing issues that required a lot of time to solve
Especially iOS development was quite a pain as I refuse to purchase Apple products and had to resort to running macOS in a virtual machine...
The last few months I've also been able to polish the user experience in Nextcloud Bookmarks noticeably.
You can now sort by URL
Nextcloud flow integration works again
Automatic file download now correctly allows downloading more than 90KB
Loading UX is much more pleasing
And of course, since Nc 26 Bookmarks also has support for the smart picker and link previews
Nextcloud Bookmarks has also seen some major improvements:
Integration with Nextcloud Talk: Allow bookmarking mentioned links
Many User Experience and performance improvements (e.g. right click support, virtual scrolling)
Better search algorithm
Allow linking bookmarks and bookmark folders to Nextcloud projects
Show and count duplicates
Implement bookmarks backup to Files
I'm very grateful for the support I've received from everyone of you in working on these projects. Thank you for continuing to support me in these efforts! Also, feel free to shoot me a message, if you have feedback, ideas, critique or just want to say hi.
All the best and godspeed to you, wherever you may be right now :)
Marcel
