hREA MMR Work Progress Reporting | July 30 - Aug 5, 2022
Published on August 8, 2022 by Pegah
It’s time for another MMR progress report. Here is what the MMR team has been working on over the past few weeks:
⚙️ Major update to the Holochain version and “Holochain Developer Kit”
The team has spent a significant amount of time updating the Holochain version for hREA. This big update:
- Makes it possible to update a hREA based app without the need for users to recreate their profiles or migrate their data every time.
- Makes the hREA code itself more maintainable and stable.
In summary this big set of breaking changes coming from Holochain ironically assists hREA in being much more stable, and thus providing developers and their audiences with something much more stable!
💅 API usability and polish
We are exposing more authorship information so that apps can display and manage revision histories of data. We are also providing an infrastructure fix to prevent potential data integrity conflicts. This is important since Holochain is a Content-addressable storage (CAS) system.
📖 Documentation and release
We have been working on the hREA developer documentation and developers and others can access it today at docs.hrea.io. We have been writing a bunch of guides and articles explaining how to use hREA’s npm libraries, how to run a development sandbox (where you can create throwaway test data), explain about Agents and how to use myAgent (a special feature which is non-standard for the API). We have also been refining the API of the npm libraries that developers use. The team also created a release candidate as a pre-release for internal testing.
We are getting close to the end of the Major Milestone Release phase and will be publishing this first MMR by the end of August.
Stay tuned!
