Chalte Chalte is a research and public art project exploring accessible, safe, and equitable urban futures through co-walking, sensory mapping, participatory research, and speculative design in Delhi.
The grant will support:
Research & Development - Field research into accessibility, mobility, urban safety, public space, and lived experiences of movement, alongside the development of research and foresight methods.
Participatory Workshops - Co-walking and sensory mapping workshops with diverse communities across Delhi, covering accessibility, safety, mobility, materials, and speculative futures. Funds will cover local travel, materials, documentation, participant and community collaborator honorariums.
Prototyping & Testing - Development, fabrication, and field-testing of public art forms and urban interventions informed by community-generated insights and sensory maps.
Documentation & Toolkits - Development of a Sensory Mapping Toolkit and Speculation & Imagination Toolkit, alongside documentation of the project's participatory methods and community-generated visions of future cities.
The project will result in a co-walking methodology, participatory research archive, open toolkits, and public art interventions across Delhi.
