One year with Open Collective
Hey everyone,
A few weeks ago we passed one full year with Open Collective, so this seems like the right moment to sum up this time and make some plans for the future.
First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who supported us - no matter if it was single, one-time 5$ donation or regular couple-of-hundreds of dollars per month. Every donation is the sign of me that things we build are making a positive impact on your software-developer life and F# ecosystem.
You may have noticed that we didn't use any funds last year. Partially it was my the decision - I wanted to create some base for the future, in case we wanted to spend more funds on some particular goal. And partially it was circumstances - for the vast majority of last year either I was working full time on commercial contracts, or I was struggling with the burnout.
However, I hope that in 2020 I'll be able to work a bit more (at least part-time in some periods) on the tooling OSS projects using Open Collective funds.
For the last couple of weeks, I've been working on several things, including:
- modernizing infrastructure and build processes for a couple of our projects (FSAC, Forge and Ionide itself)
- designing of two different new not-public-yet tooling projects
- designing the changes in Fornax that would allow it to be used as a documentation generator
- working on improvements in FSharp.Analyzers.SDK (I belive into the potential of this project)
- typical bug fixes in various tooling projects.
Also, I want to say that I'm really excited about developments in the F# tooling - improvements in projects like Fantomas, F# support in Rider, continues investments from MSFT into F# tooling, and some of the potential ideas I have for the future - are all really positive signs for the F# ecosystem.
So, again thanks a lot for support in past year, and keep being awesome!
Chris.
