It’s a Man’s World, or Is It? What works, for Whom, and How can we do better?

Wednesday, June 6, 2018, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM (UTC+01:00)

About

The women’s empowerment movement is stronger than ever, yet, we often still find ourselves to be undervalued and underpaid, driven to believe that we are not good enough for the “hot jobs” or told we must strive to “have it all”. Who are we, and what do we want? What is good enough, and for whom? And most importantly - what can we do to help ourselves unlock our potential and empower others?

Join us for a panel discussion with three special speakers from London who will share their advice and stories to encourage us to think practically about our professional and personal lives.

The panel will be followed by a Q&A interactive discussion and finish off with plenty of time to mix and mingle with a bunch of diverse and inspiring women from different professions.

Hosted at the one and only Second Home space in Spitalfields, we are excited to see you all for Gentlewomen’s Club London’s inaugural event!

Speakers include: Eoghan Phipps is an Industry Manager with Google where he has led client services teams in Ireland, the US and now the UK. Prior to working at Google he taught economics at Maastricht University. Eoghan believes that diversity of thought at work first makes our lives more interesting, challenging and motivating, then ultimately helps us make better decisions.

Sevda Gurpinar is a Global Client Executive and Diversity, inclusion and belonging advocate at LinkedIn. Sevda works to provide her clients with innovative solutions that solve meaningful problems. She consults her clients across all lines of business to drive economic impact for their whole enterprise. She is passionate about diversity and believes that diverse teams win. If everyone commits to one small change, we can collectively make a huge difference.

Kiri O’Brien, Co-Founder & Managing Director, Druthers Search who has spent years working in recruitment before co-founding her own agency that focuses on bringing in diverse candidates to the tech industry. Working with top clients that include start-ups and Fortune 500 companies, Kiri believes the value of diverse teams and workplaces go beyond monetary and allows strategic talent retention and growth.

The Gentlewomen's Club is a judgement-free zone where women from different backgrounds and professions come together to support one another to live their “best lives” and find the work and life paths that are best for them. Our network is not just about the connections, it’s about having a forum to brainstorm how to fulfil your potential, to support you through challenges and be each others cheerleaders to celebrate each of our successes.

Our community is diverse, but we all have the same questions, from how to find the right work/life balance or how to deal with working in largely male dominated workplaces to how to find better female support and friendships in a big City.

It can be difficult to find answers to these questions or even the right forum to discuss them. That's why we have set up this Club – to support you and support change. In Brussels where it all started, we've hosted roundtable discussions with CEOs on how to build a path for success, sessions with life coaches to help find our inner-voice and fitness retreats, because we recognise that personal happiness and professional success go hand-in-hand. Membership is free, but we will charge for some events to cover the cost of catering and venue hire.
