Your support has always been vital to our mission, and we have significant work ahead of us after an unexpected four month hiatus. With your continued generosity, we can achieve our goals and make a meaningful impact. But don't just take it from us. Read some statements below from last year's recipients to learn what a difference your donation makes.
Ntebo Mokuena
"My name is Ntebo and I’ve been organizing in DC for over a decade. Money Pot has been very crucial to me over the past few years. As a student whose family has fallen on hard times, I really needed extra financial support. Money Pot is a vital part of mutual aid in DC. Organizers dedicate so much time doing important and often invisibilized, gendered labor to build resilient and abundant communities. However, we ourselves sometimes need help. Thanks to Money Pot, I was able to submit applications to law school and received assistance with rent when student loans were not enough. I am very grateful to the Money Pot organizing team and plan to financially support Money Pot once I have stable employment. We keep us safe!"

"I'm an organizer in the Woodner Tenants Union, which is involved with Ward 1 Mutual Aid. The Woodner Tenants' Union prevents evictions, shares meals, fights mold and gentrification, and resists rent increases. Created in Spring 2020, early on in the Covid 19 Pandemic, the WTU developed out of an urgent need to get through a wave of unemployment, school closures, and deadly illness. Four years later, the union is going strong, growing as a community of leaders in the DC tenant struggle.
The M4BL money pot has been a critical lifeline for me and other organizers connected to Ward 1 Mutual Aid. It has prevented evictions and displacement, and allowed us to continue focusing on the community projects we are involved in. There is simply no other program available that is filling this vital role. DC organizing can sometimes *appear* to be a middle class hobby, with so much of the real work going unseen and unsupported. The money pot helps lower barriers to organizing and helps us survive."

"I am a trauma informed yoga teacher in Southeast. The support from the DC money pot has been instrumental in helping me and my children when we were experiencing homelessness. As I struggled to keep my business afloat and dealt with the loss of my car, the funds provided by this program allowed us to stay in Airbnbs, providing us with temporary shelter and stability. Your continued support is crucial in enabling us to rebuild our lives and work towards a brighter future."
We have over ten organizer applications waiting in queue for the fund to go live. Please take a moment to sign up for your monthly contributions through the new link. Every donation helps us move closer to collective liberation and makes a difference in our community. Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment. If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out.
With care,
