Today, we are opening the financial side of Madra Teanga to the community.
For a long time, this has been a passion project. But as the user base grows and our ambitions for the content increase, we need a sustainable model that doesn't rely on advertisements, investors, or paywalls.
Why Open Collective? We chose this platform because it forces transparency. We believe that if you give money to an Irish language project, you deserve to know exactly where it goes. On this page, our "Ledger" is public. You can see every server bill, every software license, and every payment made to a native speaker.
Our Immediate Goals Our funding Roadmap is simple:
- Sustainability (€150/mo): First, we secure the servers and database to ensure the app remains online and free for everyone.
- The Content Cycle (€600/mo): Once the lights are kept on, every extra euro goes into the "Content Cycle." This funds the simultaneous recording of Connacht, Munster, and Ulster native speakers, along with professional proofreading by qualified teachers.
