How your donations are used, and what's keeping us busy
Published on November 3, 2018 by Steven Loria
I want to update you on how we are currently using your donations.
For every dollar donated to marshmallow's collective:
- $0.13 goes to the host collective, Open Source Collective
- $0.35 goes to me
- $0.25 goes to Jérôme , one of marshmallow's co-leads
- $0.27 stays in the collective's funds for misc. expenses. We are using most of this money to donate to projects that marshmallow depends on. This month, we're donating to pre-commit (which now has its own collective) and the Python Software Foundation (donate to their funding drive!).
I also want to give you an update on what we've been working on:
- A stable release of marshmallow 3 is on the horizon! marshmallow 3 is already a massive improvement on version 2, and we're focused on cutting the final release as soon as we can. I estimate that we'll have the a release candidate within the next month. You can follow our progress here: https://github.com/marshmallow-code/marshmallow/milestones .
- All projects within the marshmallow-code GitHub organization have been made compatible with marshmallow 3
- apispec 1.0 is also coming soon! We revamped the plugin interface and are improving support for OpenAPI 3.0. Follow our progress: https://github.com/marshmallow-code/apispec/milestones

Thank you for your continued support. You are truly awesome.
