Pimento Puppets

Our puppet-for-hire project is go!

Part of the funding we received from Two Ridings last year was allocated to building a sustainable funding model - a puppet for hire side project that will provide a long term income source for the work we do!

Why puppets?

Puppets have a unique ability to express thoughts and emotions without words, to bring joy and laughter, and to perform characters that wouldn't be possible without them.

Puppets are a cultural tradition all around the world - performances with puppets can be enjoyed and understood regardless of language differences, and provide a vehicle for stories about our culture and history.

They're a joy - one we want to share with more theatre companies around the country.

Why rental?

Puppets can be expensive (especially giant ones!)

That can be a prohibitive cost for theatre companies - we believe that any company that wants to use puppets should be able to.

By running a rental model, we decrease the cost of incorporating puppets into performances, and can continue to rent them time and time again - funding our recovery community for years to come.

So what's the timeline?

Our resident puppet builder Jay has just put in a request for £500 for materials to begin the creation stage of this project, we estimate the creation stage will last until late this year - at which time we will have brochures printed and distributed to theatres and arts venues around the country.

We're aiming to be renting the puppets out by 2027.

We're going to keep you all informed about how this process develops - don't forget to follow us on our instagram where we'll be posting regular updates!
