Events Update: Summer of Solidarity (Forest Gate festival and our NSF picnic)
Published on June 25, 2022 by Newham Solidarity Fund

Dear Neighbours,

We're excited to announce two upcoming events for your diaries, taking place over what some are already calling the 2022 'Summer of Solidarity'. We've been organising unconditional community solidarity for close to 2 years now, so we really hope you can celebrate with us!

First up, we'll be hosting a stall at the Forest Gate Festival on 2nd July (next week!) along with the usual amazing array of community groups, performers, artists, crafters and sellers. We'll be showing off our brand new banner😍 spreading the word about what we do and raising some money for the fund with pay-what-you-like books, plants and baked goods. We'll take good-quality donations to sell on via the stall, so if you're due a clear-out please think of us!

Forest Gate festival is 2nd July on Osborne Road, E7, and we'll be there from 11am to late afternoon

Our second event will take place on 24th July in East Ham Central Park: we can't wait to welcome you to the first ever ✨Newham Solidarity Fund Summer Picnic!✨

As the fund approaches its second birthday, we wanted to organise an event where the neighbours who make it what it is could meet and share some time with each other! Everyone is welcome for food, games, chatting and relaxing in the (fingers crossed!) sun.

The NSF Summer Picnic is in East Ham Central Park, 1-3pm on 24th July. You'll see us near the children's playground with the pink banner!

It will be a child and pet friendly picnic with no alcohol being served. If it does rain we might finish a little early, but we'll bring some cover and have a splash around and a snack all the same! We invite all our neighbours to bring a dish to share (we'll bring a few, as well as plates, cutlery and the rest) but if you can't bring anything along there'll be plenty to go around.

We really hope you can join us soon, and as always, solidarity!
