SFJ the way forward
Published on August 7, 2023 by Tuesday
Hi everybody.
Would very much love to share the
exciting moves forward that we as a community of sewers, artivists, craftivists & supporters are making.
We've gone live and onboard this Open Collective Social Nest. Who will support our collective to raise funds, apply for grants & manage our finances. This platform is open for SFJ supporters, donors & followers to view our transactions allowing 100%transparency of all monetary donations, grants & funding. Along with updates on our progression & highlights about our projects.
We are ready to fly with our ideas as a collective to raise awareness, for social injustices. By sewing life memories & stories into Quilt Hangings.
Organising Pop-up sewing Bees, along with the staging of peaceful, quietly powerful acts of craftivism/artivism fabric art projects.
To support injustice causes.
Our new collective 'Sewing for Justice'. SFJ will continue on its pilgrimage with our first project. The Grenfell Memorial Quilt. Our community of sewers & craftivists continue to sew a 220ft x 12ft Quilt Hanging. Which is to raise awareness for the Grenfell Tower inferno tragedy. Our sewers from all over the world & those that attend the Grenfell Sewing Bee held in the North Kensington Library, London,Uk, have been committed to sewing the quilt for 6 years now. We sew in support of the bereaved, & survivors in the long very tough struggle for justice.
