Swally Awards
PROJECT
Part of: SAVE
Fiscal Host: Open Collective Europe
The swally (sexworkers ally) awards aim to inform the general public on the stands of politicians regarding sex work
About
With this project we hand out awards to politicians that have been significant allies of our sector. In a country where our jobs are heavily regulated, local and national politics have a big influence on our lives. In the past 20 years, our legal workplaces have been reduced drastically, leaving many sexworkers forced to work unregulated with all the risks that come along. Often political decisions about our jobs are ill informed and based on moral standpoints and prejudices. These decisions have heavy consequences on our ability to work, our safety, and our overall well being and mental health.
With the swally awards we try to change this by putting those politicians in the spotlight who have been listening to us, who have collaborated with us locally, and who advocate for our rights in an informed manner.
