One Room Live is a community of change makers, creatives and futurists who make an impact in Barking and Dagenham. Rediscovering the magic of convening people through collaboration, creativity and music. We provide studios spaces, facilitate workshops and produce events; providing job opportunities within the arts and creative industry within Barking and Dagenham area; across London and internationally.
One Room Live is seeking support to host a series of skill-sharing workshops in January 2025. These workshops are designed to empower local residents within Barking & Dagenham by providing essential business, project management, and creative strategy tools. This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to creating peer-to-peer participation opportunities and ensuring that the resources we manage remain accessible and beneficial to the wider community.
The requested funding will support room hire and facilitator fees for three workshops, aligning with the Legacy Asset Fund’s aim to promote collective action and shared learning. These workshops will not only offer valuable knowledge and skills but also foster a deeper sense of collaboration and community engagement.

Creating Peer-to-Peer Participation Opportunities: These workshops have been designed to offer peer-led learning experiences which allow participants to exchange knowledge and gain essential practical skills for their creative disciplines and business development. By focusing on shared learning, we are helping to create a sustainable foundation for continuous creative engagement in the borough.- Strengthening Inter-Organizational Relationships: Through this initiative, we will be working closely with local creatives and organizations to support existing networks within Barking & Dagenham. Our workshops will provide a platform for ongoing collaboration, contributing to the broader aim of strengthening community ties and enhancing participation across the borough.
- Making Participation Accessible: Our sessions are open to the community and are promoted via established local hubs and facebook groups, ensuring that a diverse range of participants can access and benefit from the upskilling opportunities. Through the offering of accessible opportunities for skills development, we are contributing to the Legacy Asset Network’s vision of creating participation opportunities that are open and inclusive.
Workshop Details
We will deliver three workshops, each focused on essential creative and business development skills. These peer-to-peer sessions will foster collaboration and shared learning among participants.
Excel 101, Accounting, Goal Setting, and Project Management Crash course
This session will introduce participants to practical tools like Excel for managing their finances and projects, with the provision of templates and basic accounting knowledge and project management techniques to assist the participants in setting clear goals and getting to or maintaining a degree if profitability in their creative ventures.- Creative Strategy and Theory of Change Workshops
This workshop will guide participants through the process of developing long-term creative strategies, using the “Theory of Change” model to set impactful goals and create sustainable outcomes for their projects. - The Art of Live Music Event Curation
This workshop will provide attendees with a practical guide to curating impactful, engaging events that leave a lasting impression. Participants will explore the essential components of event curation, covering techniques for maximizing audience engagement, designing interactive activities, and orchestrating the event's flow.
Budget Breakdown
We are requesting £600 to cover the following costs:
Room Hire: £150
The workshops will be held at One Room Live studio space, with room hire at £25 per hour for six hours (3 sessions, 2 hours each).- Facilitator Fees: £450
Each facilitator will be remunerated £150 per session, ensuring fair compensation for their expertise and preparation.

These workshops are part of One Room Live’s larger goal to support continuous peer-to-peer participation opportunities in Barking & Dagenham. By providing essential skills for creative and business development, we are fostering long-term sustainability for local residents. Serve as a distribution point for promotional materials to ensure that our workshops and other peer-to-peer participation opportunities are widely accessible across the borough.- Create opportunities for shared learning through these workshops and other activities, fostering collaboration and collective development within our community.
- Use the Legacy Asset Fund strictly in accordance with its purpose to address shared challenges, such as accessing spaces and providing essential skill development.

Expense policies
The Legacy Asset Fund Expense Policies
Expenses will be covered for costs which support and progress accessible participation opportunities for all members of the collective. For example, and not exhaustively, these include payment for:
Accessing space - Support for booking/accessing conducive and appropriate space to host and deliver accessible participation activities, workshops and sessions that create value for and in the community.- Equipment - Support for equipment upkeep and maintenance such as but not limited to software & hardware updates to increase the capacity to support accessibility and participation.
- Continued development - Support to meet training and upskilling needs necessary to maintain accessible offers of participation in Barking & Dagenham.
Expense Requests & Approvals:
When
- In the first instance, payments for repairs to gifted assets will be approved as soon as the platform becomes available. Following that, they will be approved during the first week of each month, for expenses incurred during the previous month.
- Other expenses will be approved as soon as possible by a member of the administrator team.
- After the administrator team has approved claims, the Social Change Nest team will process these on their next working day- Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
What?
- As members of the collective, we are responsible for making sure submitted invoices remain in line with the proposals outlined in our respective Legacy Asset Applications, or following a majority poll from at least 2/3rds of the group if funds are requested for purposes outside of the proposals outlined in corresponding Legacy Asset applications.
- It would be helpful to the admin team if each invoice is identified with the asset & purpose associated as part of the description.
- Everyone will take individual responsibility for being aware of their own benefits implications when submitting an invoice and declare work appropriately for tax reasons.
- Invoices and receipts must clearly show the amount, date, provider name, legal address (or other identifier where a receipt) and what the payment is for.
- Expenses will only be paid if there is enough income to cover the expenses within the collective.

How are expenses approved?
Collective admins are notified when an expense is submitted, and they can approve or reject it.
Is my private data made public?
No. Only the expense amount and description are public. Attachments, payment info, emails and addresses are only visible to you and the admins.
When will I get paid?
Payments are processed by the Collective's Fiscal Host, the organization that hold funds on their behalf. Many Fiscal Hosts pay expenses weekly, but each one is different.
Why do you need my legal name?
The display name is public and the legal name is private, appearing on receipts, invoices, and other official documentation used for tax and accounting purposes.
