OCF Dissolving and Pause in Recurring Donations
Published on March 15, 2024 by Cait
Hello friends and supporters,
First off, we want to thank you so much for all your generous financial support over the past year and a half, this space wouldn’t be the same thriving and nurturing environment without you all. Even as we come into our 2 year anniversary of being in the Lee Rd store front, this project has grown and evolved beyond our wildest dreams and we cannot express our gratitude enough.
By now, you’ve probably heard that the Open Collective Foundation is dissolving and is no longer able to continue their fiscal sponsorship program. Yesterday (Thursday 3/14) was the last day that any automated donations or one-time contributions could be processed through the Open Collective platform. Today (Friday 3/15), all recurring donors will receive an email letting them know that their donations are paused.
We appreciate your patience and ask for your grace and trust while we work through this difficult transition. Needless to say, this blindsided us as well and we have been scrambling to find new solutions for our finances as an all-volunteer and relatively low overhead collective. We have enough of a savings cushion that we should be able to survive a brief pause in donations, but if you feel compelled to support our work in the meantime, a cash donation to our main space is currently the easiest way for us to receive financial support.
We are currently working on identifying salient alternatives and drawing up a transition plan. We’ll keep you all posted on which path we ultimately choose as soon as we have updates. This is a decision that we want to make with intention and trust, rather than one of urgency and panic, so we expect to have options for sustained, recurring donations once again by mid-April (and of course, will keep y’all updated if it ends up being longer than that.)
We are truly grateful for all your support, it is not something we take lightly or for granted. We’re working on resolving this issue with diligence and care. See you in the streets!
With gratitude and solidarity,
The Rhizome House Collective
