As you may know, online donations to The Rhizome House via our online fundraising platform, Open Collective, have been paused since this past March. Our fiscal host, the Open Collective Foundation, was dissolved, leaving us to either spend down the funds held by OCF or find a new fiscal sponsor to transfer the funds. 

Thankfully, we have been able to keep the space afloat in the months since using our savings, previously donated funds, individual RZH collective member donations, and money raised through the distro. 

We are happy to report that the funds held by OCF have been resolved, allowing us to restart donations on the Open Collective platform and again accept one-time and recurring donations. Contributions made through our new independent collective page are not tax-deductible.

We understand that organizing society around money doesn’t make a lot of sense. And not everyone has access to a ton of the state-backed money stuff we know as US dollars. However, thanks to your contributions, we have been able to maintain the Rhizome House in all its cozy glory as an entirely community funded project for the past two years. We pay our rent and cover costs through monthly small donations (mostly $5 and $10). If you do have a few dollars a month to spare and share, they will be applied to the maintenance and development of the RZH space with our appreciation and gratitude. 

Thanks to everyone that has hosted, attended an event, supported the distro, helped with gardening and chores, or pitched in the money stuff to keep the space going. We have hosted over 100 events (mostly public) since March. So many events that even we were surprised and gave up counting them all.

If you haven’t been by in a while, come hang out! Our new free coffee shop, wifi, library open hours every Sunday 1-4pm have been a big success recently, and folks have enthusiastically received the newly launched book distro.
