We don't update on here very often, but this one is important.

For a long time there's been a very small team of people who've headed Tusky, with more responsibility on their back than they could carry, but because of circumstances, they kept carrying it because the project was worth while. Back in November 2022, when the fediverse got a lot more attention, so did Tusky, which resulted in more contributors to help take some of that burden off. 

Since then we've been working to figure out a way to restructure things towards a healthier structure, to take some of the load off. The two roles largely affected by this restructure is the work done by Conny and maloki. Conny and maloki have both wanted to step back for a while, but we wanted to take the time to know we had done a lot of the handover before we did, and before we announced it publicly. Conny's resignation was made public in our matrix channel last night, before we'd finished writing this, which naturally got people talking.

As it stands right now, Conny is resigning entirely from working on Tusky, and maloki is still on in an advisory position and as an admin until the end of the year. We've both needed to step back due to both mental and physical health reasons, and it's been difficult decisions to make, especially when you have a love and a passion for a project you've been working on since 2017-18. 

Tusky will continue with active development, and still has a fantastic team of core contributors who've been working dilligently with us since November. And we also have other people of the core team you might have been less familiar with still onboard.
