OCEAN RCC Support
OCEAN RCC Support is intended for applicants seeking time on an OCEAN Research Computing Cloud resource for compute and/or storage. Once you have calculated the estimated amount of time and storage space necessary for your project, contact us to understand additional costs. We will provide you with the total amount necessary to complete your run for this one-time payment. If you are using Google Research Credits or have been granted time on the cluster, contact us for onboarding assistance.
Please provide a complete description of your research computing allocation needs including compute, memory and storage needs. The OCEAN cluster support team can provide you with documentation for profiling your work and finalizing your allocation request.
The OCEAN Cluster consists of a static node for user login and a static controller handles communications between all resources being managed. We primarily need to know more about your compute partition configurations and storage needs. This system is based in Google Cloud so machine types are limited to the hardware available on the Google Cloud network. You get to choose between which chip generation and manufacturer and storage options are scalable.
Costs can vary drastically depending on whether or not your job can handle preemption. If you are able to use preemptible or spot instances you can save quite a bit in your budget. For projects with tight timelines, preemption is not the best option.
As for storage the team can configure a variety of storage options from NFS based storage to a scalable shared file system like Lustre. Let us know your needs and we will create a seat for you.
If you need a seat for general research please review the membership options available on the OS HPC Cluster offerings by the OS Hackathon organization. All RCC systems are managed and maintained through products and services provided by Fluid Numerics.
All system allocations are subject to availability.
