Closing the XOXO Open Collective
Published on October 19, 2024 by Andy Baio
Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to the XOXO Open Collective over the last two years. You helped us keep XOXO alive during a long drought of virtually no revenue, which allowed us to pay for our recurring company expenses, hosting bills, development costs, and the xoxo.zone Mastodon instance.
In case you missed the news in the #announcements channel in Slack, with our final festival behind us, Andy and I are winding down the company at the end of the year, handing the Mastodon instance off to Annika entirely, and putting the XOXO Slack into a read-only mode on January 1.
In light of those changes, we've filed the remaining backlog of expenses in Open Collective to bring it down to a zero balance and will be archiving it shortly, which will cancel all your recurring subscription support.
If you want to continue to support the xoxo.zone Mastodon instance, Annika has created a new Discord for it and is looking into the tax implications of accepting donations in the future. More information about that can be found in the #xoxo-mastodon channel in Slack.
Thank you again for your support. We couldn't have done it without you.
