About

Autonomic is a worker-owned co-operative, dedicated to using technology to empower people making a positive difference in the world. Since 2017, we’ve been successfully delivering projects in a range of sectors including renewable energy, labour organising, independent media, feminist research, immigration activism, sustainable fashion, and arms trade abolition.

We are currently 11 worker-owners, located on five continents worldwide. We are a Co-operative Society, registered in the UK with the Financial Conduct Authority.

Autonomic aspires to follow the 7 co-operative principles as defined by the International Co-operative Alliance: voluntary and open membership, democratic member control, member economic participation, organising for autonomy and independence, providing education, training and information, co-operation amongst co-operatives, and concern for community.

All of our decisions are guided by our founding values:

  • Privacy: We believe that unrestricted and uncensored access to the internet is a human right – sharing of knowledge and experiences helps build greater co-operation between peoples around the world, and we stand against attempts to censor it.

  • Sustainability: We aim to grow in a sustainable way, through dedicated and consistent effort, and plan for the long-term. We work to minimise our impact on the earth, and collaborate with the wider co-operative movement to grow the solidarity technology sector.

  • Transparency: We are proud of our commitment to using libre software, wherever possible, and contributing back to the upstream projects we rely on as much as we can. We carefully assess the ethical implications of potential work, and communicate frankly and proactively.
