About
Bristol is a very unequal city. Bristol Redistro helps address this by supporting groups set up and led by communities most affected by inequality who are working to create a more just, equal and sustainable world. As a wealth redistribution group we transfer money from those who have more than they need, to those who don’t have enough.
As of 10 October, we've just closed for applications for Round 8. We've received 65 applications. On a quick look, there are again many Global Majority, refugee and migrant led groups, as well as those working around disability, ill health, neurodivergence, domestic abuse, healing, arts and sports, and applications from the LGBTQ+ community. These are spread across the city, including Easton, Knowle West, St Paul's, Lawrence Hill and Hartcliffe. Applicants and members will now be deciding which of those applications are successful.
We now have 25 members who come together throughout the year to support each other, make decisions and share resources. They can also request up to £1,000 a year without having to keep applying.
Why donate?
Donating to Redistro is a great way to offer solidarity to people most affected by our current crises. By donating to Redistro you can help build the world we all want to live in.
Most of the groups that apply have an annual income of £2,000 or less and struggle to access funds elsewhere as they are small, informal and often face discrimination when trying to apply to mainstream funders. Many don't have the networks or social capital to run successful crowdfunds. Bristol Redistro is also a small group - we have no paid staff or offices. A small amount of money goes a long way!
Applicants and groups we've funded in the past decide which applications are funded, so decisions are made based on real knowledge of Bristol communities and what it takes to run a grassroots group. Read about groups we've funded in the past
