About
Catalyst Collaborative Farms is a BIPOC and Queer-owned initiative committed to transforming the agricultural landscape by fostering inclusivity and sustainability. Our mission is to develop an equitable food system that not only nourishes but also empowers the diverse communities we serve. Our vision is to cultivate a network of farmers that are as diverse as the communities we intend to feed, ensuring the richness of our produce is matched by the richness of our collective experience. Catalyst Collaborative Farms extends beyond agricultural production; we are dedicated to creating a safe, affirming space for BIPOC and Queer individuals to engage in and lead sustainable farming efforts. By challenging traditional farming narratives, we are establishing new paradigms of land stewardship that are inclusive, just, and forward- thinking.
Our farm directly benefits the community by:
1. Providing access to fresh, healthy, and locally sourced produce, thereby addressing food scarcity and improving nutritional outcomes.
2. Serving as an educational resource for sustainable agricultural practices, promoting environmental stewardship.
3. Creating economic opportunities that elevate BIPOC and Queer leadership in the agricultural sector.
4. Cultivating a sense of belonging and community through shared experiences in farming and food production.
Catalyst Collaborative Farms is a beacon for social change, driving community engagement, and offering a blueprint for a more inclusive and sustainable future in agriculture. We are committed to growing not just food, but also a movement that celebrates diversity and fosters genuine community connections.
Founded in April 2023, Catalyst Collaborative Farm is currently incubated on 2.8 acres of land at WILDSEED Community Farm and Healing Village which is a liberated zone for Black, Indigenous, and other people of the global majority to practice interdependence and sovereignty together. Situated on 181 acres of land and water on Mohican, Munsee, Lenape, and Schaghticoke territory in the mid-Hudson Valley, WILDSEED is a sacred space for change-makers and a site of belonging for people historically disenfranchised from land.
