Street medics are a nationwide movement of healthcare providers and trained lay volunteers that provide first aid and medical support at protests for social change.

Chicago Action Medical is a street medic collective whose members have provided health support, wellness, workshops, first aid and community care support for justice movements since 2002. As street medics, CAM seeks to:

Conduct workshops on protest health and safety
Emphasize the importance of consent for any care provided
Provide referrals for follow-up or ongoing healthcare
Work in teams of at least two medics to offer do-no-harm first aid and natural remedies
Help people access a higher level of care in the event that it is needed
Provide public health interventions such as handwashing stations to prevent illness
Work at all kinds of protests, regardless of the likelihood of civil disobedience or injuries, to ensure a caring atmosphere and increase accessibility
Participate with other protesters in jail support teams, in order to offer care for any injuries arrestees may have
Spread calm

The Democratic National Convention will be held at Chicago's United Center and McCormick Place from Monday August 19 to Thursday August 22. In anticipation of police repression and harm to the convergence of those raising their voices in support of a Free Palestine, CAM is gratefully accepting community support for medical supplies and resources.

CAM is focusing on one-time donations but happily accepts monthly support and supplies donations as well. Email for information on donating unused, unopened medical supplies: [email protected]. Note that we have no need for band-aids or gauze - thank you so much!
