Spring Gathering 2024

Its time to gather, enjoy each others company, stretch our Enspiral muscles and have a good time.

This year we are making a small change to the Retreat, we are having it in Spring! New Zealand had a normal pattern of retreating in Summer and Winter and initially we adopted the same pattern here in Europe. But this year we wondered if spring and Autumn would be a better rhythm in Europe. 

In addition we are also going back to stay with Christa and Andi at the AMAZING 
Lunow-Stolzenhagen Collective. We are also looking to make Stolzenhagen the permanent home for the Spring Retreat going forward. So for 2025 we will know well in advance the where and when of things. Hopefully we can pick hosts for next year at the retreat this year.

The Collaboration week starts on Monday and finishes on Thursday afternoon.
The retreat starts on Thursday afternoon and finishes on Sunday after Lunch.

If you want to stay an extra night, before or after, you'll need to arrange it with us and pay an extra €20/person/night (kids under 12 - free).

Catering

This year we will be having dinner catered for at the event. We will still be forming small groups to assist with prepping some food, but it won't need one of us to dedicate a huge amount of time to. For breakfast we will self cater with eggs, porridge and toast and for lunch we will eat leftovers, salads and a sandwich table of yum yums.

Childcare
We are organising for a child carer to come along to the event. Exactly what this looks like day to day does somewhat depend on how many children come along and their ages. But we will work it out.

The Collaboration Week
We will also be trialing a "Collaboration Week" leading up to the Retreat. It's actually only 4 days (3 nights), but it didn't sound as good :) This is a very lite structured series of days for people to come together and collaborate on projects. There will be minimal structure and facilitation provided by the hosts and the expectation is that people will already have projects in mind they wish to work on. This space could be particularly useful for remote teams that don't normally get to hang out together.

Ticket prices
Lastly we are changing up how we are charging people for the event. Previously we had a deposit + top up system. But this ended up requiring too much time to manage and also put the financial host in the position of having to chase people for funds after the event, which it turns out some of us are really bad at...

So instead we have opted to just charge a full amount for the ticket upfront. Last year when we self catered the event came in at €195 per person including buying beers and wine for the party. This year we pushed this up to €250 for a full price adult ticket to cover the extra catering costs and also give us a buffer for inflation.

We have priced this with the idea of the event making a small profit. All profit will just be sent back to the Open Collective core accounts.

Subsidised Tickets
If the ticket price is on the high side for you please select the subsidised ticket price. We will be tapping into core funds as needed to cover these costs. As a general rule we are expecting those who are not in full-time employment and who are not sitting on established wealth to be using this ticket category.

Youth Tickets
We are giving people 22 years and younger discounted tickets to attend the event.

Children's Tickets
Children 12 years and under are free to attend. Our ability to provide these tickets builds off of Christa and Andi's generosity in providing free accommodation to kids.

Tickets are limited! We have only 16 spots + potential campervans. First come, first served.
