WORKSHOP 7/13 (WED 7:00-8:30pm ET): Festival TAIKO
Learn to drum with a selection of festive Japanese music incorporating rhythm patterns played on TAIKO (Japanese drums) and melodies on SHINOBUE (bamboo flute). Pieces covered in this workshop were taught in our 2021 BBK (Bon daiko/drumming, Bon odori/dance, Kane) class, but everyone regardless of taiko experience is welcome to join and learn about these songs: Kagayake Bayashi, Natsumatsuri and Ichiban.
INSTRUCTORS: Rieko Muroi-Bowman, Noriko Maidens, Kyoko Johnson and Akiyo Fisher.
WORKSHOP 8/17 (WED 6:30-8:00pm ET): MI Bon Summer Festival TAIKO
Learn to play, on TAIKO drum and KANE percussion instruments, the festival rhythms associated with a couple songs & dances that will be featured in our 2022 MI Bon Summer Festival event (on 8/20 in Novi, Michigan): Tanko Bushi and Tokyo Ondo. No experience necessary!
INSTRUCTORS: Noriko Maidens and BBK (Bon daiko/drumming, Bon odori/dance, Kane) Team.
