About

Cooperation Town is a network of self organised, community led food co-ops and food hubs.

It was initiated in 2019 by a group of community organisers and London residents in order to meet local needs for affordable food and community spaces. The network aims to:
  • Support opportunities for self organisation on a hyper-local community level
  • Build resilience through cooperation
  • Bring people together to share skills, resources and experience
  • Provide affordable food and household products
  • Scale up the network through training and mutual support
Cooperation Town food co-ops are run by their members, according to local needs. Members decide collectively on how to organise and are responsible for the day to day running of the co-op.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Cooperation Town co-ops were able to use their existing infrastructure to adapt to mass food distribution, supporting residents living on low or no income.

Funds raised through Open Collective will be used to develop and sustain the network, provide training and resources to new co-ops, meet needs in response to the high demand around Covid-19 and enable us to develop our work locally and nationally.
