About

About
Fairfax Mutual Aid (FxMA) is a network of care formed to address our unhoused communities’ immediate needs across the Beverly Grove and Fairfax neighborhoods of Los Angeles. We recognize constituents living on the streets deserve the exact same resources, care and support as housed people.

Our goal is to provide as much community support as we can. We do this through material aid, providing transportation to resources, encampment sweep support and policy advocacy. Our work is focused on the hyper-local neighborhood, encampment and individual scales which allows us to sustain and nurture the relationships we form.

How are monetary donations used?
  • The majority of what we spend money on is immediate material aid for our unhoused community members. This includes items such as food, water, tents, sleeping bags, tarps, personal hygiene and medical supplies, harm reduction supplies, cell phones, dog food and other basic survival items.
  • We organize call-to-action events responding to policies directly harming our unhoused community members, which usually requires us to print a lot of flyers and posters.
  • Gas money for our volunteers who provide transportation.
  • Approximately 5% of all donations goes to Open Collective for handling our banking, taxes, accounting, legal, liability, and making payments from you and our expenses transparent and open source.

We are a 100% volunteer-based network. There are lots of ways to get involved, whether you're interested in contributing to our weekly outreach team or helping with back-end support. If you have a skill, resource, or supplies that you think would help our efforts we would love to hear about it.
