About
Created and operated by Game of Trees developers and OpenBSD developers.
This project is still in early stages. No service is available at present.
We want to create a financially sustainable Git hosting service which
keeps your data secure and supports the development of Game of Trees.
To keep this service sustainable, repository admins may be required to
contribute to the fund. Committers can be added free of charge.
Public and private repositories will be supported.
Anyone can see where our funds come from and where they go to.
We will keep your data secure. We will not sell or otherwise abuse your data.
The service will be powered by OpenBSD and hosted at carefully selected
hosting providers who align with our goals.
Game of Trees and this hosting service is created by volunteers.
You can support us by donating.
The fiscal host of this collective is Stefan Sperling's company
Chirpy Software SRL (https://chirpysoft.be), located in Belgium.
Stefan founded the Game of Trees project in 2017 and has been
working on it as an unpaid side project ever since.
Because we are not backed by a non-profit entity, some amount
of funds collected will be taxed.
Sufficient donations will allow us to spend more time on this project
and move it forward faster. Donations are NOT tax deductible,
but Stefan can provide a B2B invoice on request.
Current project status:
We have a working server implementation:
https://got.gameoftrees.org
which can already be self-hosted on OpenBSD and Linux:
https://gameoftrees.org/gotd.8.html
We still have to design and build a service deployment system, and
figure out pricing tiers required to make the service sustainable.
