Sponsors Update - October 2024
Published on November 1, 2024 by Ruth Cheesley
Hello amazing supporters of Mautic!
Big apologies for the radio silence on my part, the combination of summer vacation, time off following an operation on my wrist and travel for the Google Summer of Code summit meant that I've been somewhat tardy on keeping up with my sponsors newsletters.
We've had a lot of exciting things happening within the community over the last few months, including:
- Announcing the plan for an Extended Long Term Support program (ELTS for short)
- Completing our Google Summer of Code projects (read Priyanshi and Ketu's wrap-up reports - it was fantastic seeing the awesome work they did during their projects!)
- Receiving ~47k EUR funding from NLNet to work on the first phase of a project to implement a Campaign Library in Mautic
- Launching our first Business Survey which has yielded some interesting and informative results.
- An incredibly successful Hacktoberfest, with 376 people signing up to contribute to Mautic, 43 non-code contributions completed and a huge number of PRs getting reviewed and tested by our new QA contributors.
- The Community Team kicking off a plan to reboot our international community growth.
The biggest thing to flag up is that we are currently facing around a $50,000 deficit at the end of the year, predominantly due to the substantial reduction in event sponsorship over the last two years that has been felt across the industry, and much less income than expected from the Mautic Trials where we're starting to see some conversions, but much less than projected.
We were also expecting to see a higher number of organisations using Mautic becoming Mautic Members or sponsors.
While I am still doing a lot of proactive outreach in this area, the lead time is on average 3-5 months before a company becomes a member, so it's quite a slow burn process.
While we're working on several revenue streams which will go some way to addressing the deficit coming into the new year, we're also asking you, our amazing and loyal supporters, if you are able to consider playing a part in helping us through this challenging phase in our growth as an independent open source project.
- Could you make a one-time or regular monthly donation to Mautic via Open Collective?
- If you use Mautic as a business, please seriously consider becoming a corporate member. It really does help us immensely and it also means you're actively involved in our governance processes, directing the future of Mautic as a voting member of the General Assembly.
- Can you increase your existing contribution, or step up to the next membership tier (we're offering some nice discounts for upgrading, I'll be in touch when you have a few months to go before your renewal, or feel free to drop me a line any time).
- Could you donate a percentage of the income from your previous or next Mautic project to help us get through the next few months?
Any help that you can provide us over the next few months will be very much appreciated - I'll be expanding more on this in my keynote on Monday at Mautic Conference Europe, I hope to see many of you there!
