August Update from OSC
Published on September 10, 2024 by Grace Powers

Greetings, OSC community! We hope you're having a great September so far. Let’s jump into the latest news and updates!

📣 Announcements

Team retreat (OSC will be OOO)
The OSC team works fully remotely, but once a year, we gather in person for our annual retreat to reflect on the current year and plan the next year together. This year, our retreat will take place in Berlin. From the 16th through the 23rd, our response times may be slower, though expenses will continue to be processed as usual. We appreciate your patience and look forward to reconnecting with everyone after the retreat.

Meetup in Berlin
While we're together, we’re planning a casual meetup for friends of OSC. If you’ll be in or around Berlin on Monday, September 23rd, we’d love for you to join us at a biergarten! Just fill out this form, and we’ll send you the details.

Sentry is looking for more companies to join the Open Source Pledge.
Sentry and other contributors are teaming up with other industry leaders to kick off the Open Source Pledge, encouraging companies to contribute to supporting open source maintainers. With ten companies already on board, they’re gearing up to launch a major campaign on October 8, with advertising in San Francisco and NYC.

Companies that contribute an average of $2,000 a year per full-time staff developer are eligible to be included in their promotional campaign. If your company qualifies and you are interested, don't hesitate to contact us at [email protected], and we will help you compile your donation history. Companies that sign up before the launch will be recognized as Open Source Pledge Innovators and get a badge to show off on their websites and career pages—an easy way to highlight their commitment to open source and attract top talent.

Do you know a company or organization that might be interested in supporting open-source maintainers? Spread the word and learn more at https://osspledge.com
