Exchange Meeting on "Citizen-Generated Data initiatives"
Published on April 24, 2022 by Sebastian Klemm

Dear supporters & community.
how can you envision a cross-institutional, actively curated forum about Citizen-Generated Data implementations?*

BECAUSE
... we conducted an interview publication on Ideas for Change' Taxonomy for Citizen-Generated Data initiatives and actively disseminated it across channels, we created a stepping stone for a corresponding exchange meeting.

EXCHANGE MEETING
With the purpose to add to impactful connectivity for Proofing Future members' findings and solutions, we facilitate exchange meetings on the basis of preceding interview content, to which we are bringing affine contacts from our personal network:

On 5 April we conducted a first exchange meeting on Citizen-Generated Data, where Giovanni Maccani, senior researcher at Ideas for Change, presented the "Taxonomy for Citizen-Generated Data initiatives in Catalonia", its structure, findings and way forward:

Contributing to a lively exchange at this meeting were participants from i.a.:
  • Ā CorrelAid
  • Ā Politics for Tomorrow
  • Ā Urban Innovative Actions
  • Ā The Governance Lab at New York University
  • the Joint Research Center at the European Commission
  • the Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs Austria

OUTCOME
Through this meeting we were able to:
  • Ignite a mutual exchange on the potentials of Citizen-Generated Data.
  • Give rise to further knowledge sharing on international & EU-wide best practices, new project ideas and alliances.

*PERSPECTIVE
With Proofing Future: Bridging People + Ideas we would be happy to facilitate a continued forum and structure that actively bridges domains, enables frictionless collaboration & new alliances for solutions around Citizen-Generated Data. - We are considering to evolve such a forum through our just-created nonprofit instance under the umbrella of Open Collective Europe, called "Proofing Future Europe" (further details on that at a later date).

How we roll to get there:
We are actively inquiring the wider interests and support options for an actively curated continuation of such exchange. - We achieve this by conducting a subsequent survey, using the open source software SurveyStack from Our Sci, which we could design as to i.a. allow respondents to see what others have answered in the publically disclosed parts of the survey on the results page.**
