Take any meter readings by this evening!

*Meter Reading day Thursday 31st March 2022.*
Hi everyone
Just in case you haven't already heard, it's a good idea to take gas and electricity meter readings on March 31st. Regardless of what type of meter you have, smart or otherwise.
- Not smart meter? Send a reading (later in the day the better, or if you can't get through, take a photo)
- Smart or prepay meter? Just take a meter pic for safety (in case of dispute).
Why does everyone need to do this?
As most people now know, on Friday 1st April 2022, the new OFGEM energy price cap comes into force. This means much higher energy rates for millions of people. It's incredibly important therefore that suppliers are not given the opportunity to charge energy units used at the old lower rates before 1st April 2022, at the newer higher price caps rates after 1st April 2022.
While we're here, we have also been recently made aware of a couple schemes that provide further financial help should you need it or know of people who might:
Thames Water discount for low-income households:
https://www.thameswater.co.uk/help/account-and-billing/financial-support/waterhelp
The Southwark Council hardship fund:
https://www.southwark.gov.uk/benefits-and-support/hardship-fund
Please share this info with anyone you think could find it useful, and do let us know if you hear of any other schemes to help people on low-incomes, by replying to this message or emailing us at [email protected]
Thank you!
