About

SimplyTest.me has two parts:

  1. An open source project - https://www.drupal.org/project/simplytest
  2. A totally free service - https://simplytest.me

The free service has two sponsors who pay for the production hardware. When I took over the project, I began paying for development infrastructure and a new pre-production environment for the upcoming major revamp of SimplyTest.me in Drupal 8. We will need more infrastructure as this progresses, which will include a CI system and additional, more robust servers to handle the full traffic of SimplyTest.

I also have longer-term aspirations to set up a paid mentoring program that can help create new contributors for SimplyTest and help new people learn. I am considering sponsorship for a stipend, books, hardware, and much more.

This tool is a community asset. I believe an Open Collective may be the right tool to help raise funds, operate transparently, and more.
