About

West Midlands Palliative Care Physicians began to meet over 20 years ago when the speciality of palliative medicine was still in its infancy. At that time a handful of palliative medicine specialists came together in a small forum to meet for peer support and education.

As the group became established, members created of Palliative Care Guidelines for the West Midlands. This resource continues to this day, with the current now published online here with the latest hard copy now available in our store.

The group is now a Society and meets three times a year around the region and has a rolling Chair and Vice Chair. All palliative medicine consultants, hospice medical directors and specialist palliative pharmacists in the region are eligible to attend, with a current membership of over 60 professionals. As well as a forum for providing education, other benefits of the group include opportunities for collaboration in research, academic development, guideline generation, audit and strategy within the West Midlands.
