About


Join us to learn/review traditional and contemporary dances that accompany Japanese obon festival music. No experience necessary to enjoy a selection of folk dances that accompany songs that will be featured at our 2022 MI Bon Summer Festival event on SAT 9/24 (rescheduled from 8/20) in Novi, MI, including Tanko Bushi, Tokyo Ondo, Ei Ja Nai Ka, and our own MI Ondo.

INSTRUCTORS: Kyoko Johnson and BBK (Bon daiko/drumming, Bon odori/dance, Kane class) Team. We ask our staff and all participants to follow our GLTC COVID Safety Practices (including wearing a mask in the space).  Workshop location is @Cen4PAL in Wixom, MI.

These family-friendly workshops are open to the public and offered free of charge (donations welcome) as part of our MI Bon Summer Festival workshop series:
8/3 (7:00-8:30pm ET) MI Bon odori/dance
8/10 (6:30-8:00pm ET) MI Bon odori/dance *same content as 8/3 workshop; may be repeated*
8/17 (6:30-8:00pm ET) MI Bon daiko (drumming)
9/17 (4-5pm ET) MI Bon odori/dance
